Blast From The Past: Bully Research Paper

This is a paper I wrote in the 10th grade. Looking at this work, retrospectively, makes me realize that my writing has come a long way. I'm by far not a great writer, but I'm glad that I can notice improvement in my ability to compose a prose.

Bullying is a topic that is just now been taken notice by the public. However bullying has existed for a long time and has affected many people. So why is it important now? With the recent news of bullying victims committing suicide has spark interest in this topic. Also with shows like “Bully Beatdown” and viral videos about bullying this topic has been introduced to larger audience. This makes research in bullying a lot easier and faster. While I was conducting my own research I learned aspects of bullying that I was not aware of. I learned that bullying can be in many forms other than physical. Bullies sometimes do not know of the consequences of their actions and need to be educated. Lastly that bullies could also be victims of bullying creating an endless cycle of bullying.

Bullying can have many masks making it hard to identify victims of it. The two most common forms of bullying are verbal and physical. These are most common because they are the easiest to see and prevent. However there are types of bullying that are not so easy. these are cyberbullying, Indirect bullying, and social alienation.Cyberbullying is bullying through the Internet. This happens in social networks like Facebook or Myspace. Indirect bullying is bullying by spreading nasty rumors about someone or talking bad about someone behind their backs. Finally social alienation is a type of bullying that is the hardest to identify. Since the bully is not talking or having any contact with the victim.Social alienation could also be considered a type of indirect bullying.

Most bullies do not know or care of the consequences of their actions. People might not believe that bullies actually do not know they are hurting their victims ,but sometimes bullies do not actually know they are hurting people. This is dangerous because a bully that does not know what they are doing could do things that are really dangerous according to KidsHealth.com. That is why bullying could be weakened by just teaching young bullies right from wrong. Teaching little kids about morality and kindness could really weaken the bully problem.

Since bullies are classified to be the bad guys people might not expected that these bullies could also be victims of bullying themselves. This creates a cycle of bullying that grows and grows as time passes. This makes one bully into two into three and so on. Before we know we can have more bullies that we can handle. So how can we stop this cycle? For starters we can talk to these bullies and figure out there motivation to hurt other people. Helping them over come their frustrations and see the errors of their way. We cannot forget that bullies are people too with feelings and thoughts. If we can help bullies deal with this problems in their lives then maybe we will have a solution for bullying.
